Last Day in DC

We packed a lot in on our last day in DC- what a doozy!! We had a reservation to see the capital building first thing in the morning- what a grand and eye opening experience. It was so neat to be in a building that holds so much history for our country (past and present). I loved seeing all the sculptors.

 The Rotunda was awesome

Bust of Lincoln in the Capital
 Baptism of Pocahontas
 Thomas Jefferson
 Rosa Parks

After breakfast and a little rest, we headed for our tour of Lincoln's Cottage up at the Old Soldiers Home. This is by far my most memorable time in DC. We had a great tour guide who led us through the home and what it would have been like for Lincoln to live there, to make historical decisions
Lincoln rode his horse from the cottage a few miles down
to the White House when they were staying out of the city.
Dan and Lincoln were about the same height!

To top off our Lincoln day, we headed to Lincoln's Memorial at
Sunset. This was a great ending to our trip.

The man was a genius when it came to speeches
Goodbye DC- see you again!!
