Sweet Savannah Time!

I had the great privilege of spending 5 days with my dear friend and her family in Savannah, GA. The Conatser Family moved from Irvine at the end of 2011 and I have missed them every day since. As soon as Julie left, I was determined to get out her way for a visit. I signed up for a Delta Sky Miles Credit Card just so I could earn miles that would get me there and not cost an arm and a leg.

While Nathan was at camp and Jason spent time with Dan and my mom, I flew out on Friday morning and stayed through Wednesday. I even celebrated my birthday there. This was made even better since Julie's mom, Beverly- aka "Shug", shares the same birthday as me. Julie really treated us well with a delicious breakfast in downtown Savannah and a wonderful homemade dinner.

My most favorite times were just sitting around their home and being with their family. I just missed spending that time with all of them: Rob- her amazing husband. Emma, Ethan and Maddie- her three adorable kids. Beverly- her awesome mom. We took walks when it wasn't too hot, ventured to South Carolina and Hilton Head. We attended their great church, Savannah Christian Fellowship. I got to meet lots of their new friends and we talked about dear friends back in California.

Yosemite Sierra Summer Camp- 2012

Today we dropped off Nathan to camp- his first time at sleep away camp (for two WHOLE weeks). I was a camper back in the mid 80's at YSSC and then I was the registrar and office manager for 4 years (1999 to 2002). Needless to say, this place holds a special place in my heart.

I always knew I would want to send my own kids here if I got the chance and had the means. Well, I was offered a great deal by the directors and couldn't pass on the opportunity.

We have been talking about camp with Nathan for over 8 months and preparing him for this time away from us. The kid has been counting down the days for over a week and was slightly levitating on the day of drop off.
This bus has been around since I was a camper!
 Nathan's counselor "Clutch" is cool!!
 Oh yeah- we are happy!!

Exploring Bass Lake & Willow Cove

Before taking Nathan to camp we decided to explore the area around it first. We parked at the camp and walked towards the lake and Willow Cove. It is really warm up hear today and the mosquitos are out, but we still enjoyed ourselves!!

On The Road Again- Headed to Bass Lake

Today we started our two day sojourn to take Nathan to Yosemite Sierra Summer Camp. This is an amazing camp that I had the privilege of attending back in the 80's and also worked at for 4 years (99-02). I have so many memories of this place and I am so excited that my child gets to experience the same joy. Most importantly, it is place where God is so BIG and will become even more real to Nathan than He already is!!

Alive and Kickin'

I am feeling good today!! The Summer days are warm and wonderful and I feel healthy. I have to enjoy these times before my chemo treatment begins at the end of the month! Until that day- I will be dancing,  singing, laughing with Dan, playing with my kids, walking my dog- taking each day as it comes and enjoying it to the fullest!!
